Shoji Screen Restoration Project at Michener Art Museum

Posted on May 28, 2013 in Commercial, Gallery

Precious Pieces restored shoji screens for the Michener Art Museum. We began by removing the old washi from the frames, then sanding and cleaning each grid of the shoji frames. We then replaced the old washi with Precious Pieces’ durable Film Backing Washi so it withstands everyday use in a busy museum. Finally, Soap Flakes were applied on the frames for stain protection and natural wood sheen. This museum honors the life and work of James A. Michener, located in Doylestown, PA,
